All authors published in the Canadian Journal of Archaeology are required to endorse the following ethics declaration. Please sign and upload this document with your submission.
Author Responsibilities
- Authors warrant that their work is original, that all data is presented truthfully, and that they have not plagiarized (following the Committee on Publication Ethics [COPE] definition of plagiarism).
- Authors warrant that all required permissions have been obtained and that their work does not infringe on the intellectual property rights of any individual or entity.
- Authors warrant that their work has not been published elsewhere, and that it is not currently under consideration for publication elsewhere.
- Authors warrant that the ethical principles of the Canadian Archaeological Association were upheld in the conduct of their research.
- Authors shall report any conflicts of interest and all funding sources.
- Authors shall identify all sources used in the creation of the manuscript.
- Authors shall report any errors they discover in their manuscript.
Reviewer Responsibilities
- Reviewers shall notify the Canadian Journal of Archaeology of any potential conflicts of interest.
- Reviewers shall keep information about the manuscript confidential.
- Reviewers shall bring to the Editors’ attention any information that may be reason to reject it for publication.
- Reviewers shall evaluate manuscripts only for their intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors.
Editorial Board Responsibilities
- The Editors shall keep information about submitted manuscripts confidential.
- The Editors shall disclose any conflicts of interest.
- The Editors shall evaluate manuscripts only for their intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors.
- The Editors are responsible for making publication decisions for submitted manuscripts.
- The Editors and Editorial Board shall review suspected incidents of plagiarism following the COPE Code of Conduct and, should the board conclude that plagiarism has occurred, the editors will follow the COPE workflow to respond to the violation.
